Hex Rally Racers

Hex Rally Racers is a magical multiplayer arcade racing game for PC. Race as witches on flying brooms through spellbinding worlds to become the fastest witch in the land. Play with up to three friends at once in 4 player split-screen, or race against up to seven AI racers for non-stop spell-slinging action! During the race, players can pick up ingredients on the track to craft unique spells that can be used as traps, boosts, or projectiles to leave other witches in the dust.

Hex Rally Racers was developed from concept to final project over three months by a 60-person team. During that time, we developed six polished racetracks in three unique magical environments, four varied brooms (karts), eight custom outfits for characters, and ten different battle items used in the race.

Contributions

Implemented and iterated the Minimap System
- A top-down view of the full race track overlay on the game screen
- Player icons move on the minimap as they travel through the level
Complete refactoring of the Flythrough Camera
- A short sequence to showcase the level before each race
- Replace using a camera on a spline with UE4 level sequencer
- Allow level designers conveniently just drop in a recorded sequencer to set the flythrough in each level
